Clerk To The Governing Body

As the school moves to an exciting new phase of its life we have a vacancy for someone who is suitably skilled and experienced to join the Five Islands School as Clerk to the Governing Body.


Regulation requires governing bodies to have regard to advice from the clerk in regards to exercising the governing body functions.


The Clerk will:

  • Work closely with the chair to support the organisation and delivery of local governing body meetings.

  • Provide effective administrative support to the governing body and its   committees.

  • Ensure the governing body is correctly constituted.

  • Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements.

  • Provide advice and guidance to the governing body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters.

  • Maintain complete confidentiality at all times.


Training will be given.


The successful candidate will be paid £160.00 per meeting. Some work will be required before and after each meeting. We would expect there to be two meetings per school term. There is a meeting on Tuesday 27th February, 9-12am, for which we would expect the successful candidate to be available to shadow.
