Family Support Worker

Aims of the Service

The aim of the Family Support Service is to provide pupils, families, other agencies and school staff with a flexible point of contact for a wide range of issues arising in relation to home/school issues.

This may include:

  • Parenting concerns
  • Transitions
  • Attendance
  • Emotional well being
  • E Safety
  • Bereavement
  • Friendship issues
  • Signposting
  • Any other issues which may be bothering children

The aim is to provide a highly visible and easily accessible link between school and families.

We also aim to gather knowledge of problems at an early stage, allowing us to intervene promptly to prevent crises or escalation.

The FSW will be available to all students on a regular basis, as a point of reference for any issues or concerns.

The FSW will offer families and pupils confidentiality and a neutral approach insofar as the school's safeguarding policies allow.

The FSW will work with parents/carers/pupils/school staff and other agencies to identify practical strategies aimed at improving learning, behaviour and relationships.

During the first term the FSW will identify areas of unmet need and formulate plans to address these.

The FSW will aim to offer a presence in Mundesley House for 2 hours per week and a weekly drop in at a venue away from school.

School staff can access the service through direct discussion with the FSW.
