Local Academy Committee (FIAC)

Jeremy Brown

 

Jeremy is the Chair of the Local Academy Committee and is our Whistleblowing Governor. He has one child at the academy. To contact him, please email jeremybrown@fiveislands.org or call 07732 126105 (phone number for whistleblowing only, please).

Sarah Whittaker

 

Sarah is the Vice Chair of the Local Academy Committee and is our Finance Governor. She is a parent governor and has one child at the academy.

Canon Perran Gay

Perran is the Chaplain to the Isles of Scilly (the resident Church of England parish priest who serves the islands). Perran is a former secondary school teacher, and also has experience of adult education and clergy training through his work with Exeter University and the Diocese of Truro, having led the Education Department at Truro Cathedral for seven years. Perran has been a governor of four church and community primary schools and a member of the governing body and audit committee of the University of St Mark and St John, Plymouth.


Perran is our Diocesan Governor and is also a member of the Board of Trustees. He is a former member of the IEB.

Scott Fuller

 

Scott is a co-opted governor and is responsible for Safeguarding.

Ella McLachlan

 

Ella is a co-opted governor and is Deputy Safeguarding Governor. She lives on St Martin's and has two children at Five Islands Academy.

Robyn Bennett

 

Robin is a parent governor and is our Mundesley House Governor. She has three children at the academy and lives on Bryher. She is passionate about securing high standards of education for all.

Tamasin Bridge

 

Tamasin is a co-opted governor and has one child still at the academy.

Phil Roe

Phil has spent his entire career within education, nearly half as a Headteacher of an “outstanding” school. In 2000 Phil's school achieved the accolade of becoming the most improved school in the country and as a result Phil became involved with developing government policy regarding school improvement. Latterly, Phil has spent time as an Advisor to the Ministry of Defence (if he told you more he’d have to kill you!!), an LA advisor, an Ofsted Inspector, a School Improvement Partner and finally as Director of Education for the national charity Barnardo’s UK.

 

Phil was formerly a member of the IEB and is a Trustee-appointed governor. He also sits on the Board of Trustees.


Phil leads on Quality of Education.

Jackie Eason (Chair of Trustees - Leading Edge Academies Partnership - and former Chair of the IEB)

Jackie is a governor consultant who has worked in special measures schools supporting improvement and academy conversion. Jackie is a National Leader of Governance and works as an independent governor consultant. Jackie also develops and delivers training on behalf of the National Governors Association.

 

Jackie led on the academy conversion process for the IEB, and remains part of our "family" as Chair of Trustees for the MAT.
