Leading Edge

Leading Edge Ethos

We have been running this highly successful joint school Programme in partnership with Penryn College since 2004. Initially kick started by a Nationally funded Government Project; we received recognition as being one of top 8 partnerships UK wide for innovation and impact on our young people.

Leading Edge is all about consistency of effort (not academic ability)…the more students put in, the more they achieve. Not only does it provide unique and exciting opportunities; the Leading Edge Programme promotes aspirational attitudes to learning and life.

Starting in Year 9, students have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of challenges over an 18 month period. These Challenges range from shelter building and survival on an uninhabited island, trail running, sea kayaking, problem solving, hiking in the Brecon Beacons & bivouacking in the rain forest biome at the Eden Project!

The Programme culminates with a multi-day trek in some of the world’s most beautiful mountain ranges in Norway, the French & Spanish Pyrenees and the Italian Dolomites including summiting a 3000m peak!
