Academy Uniform and Equipment

Primary School Uniform

 

  • Navy sweatshirt with school logo / navy cardigan with school logo
  • Sky blue polo shirt with or without school logo
  • Black trousers / black city shorts / black skirt
  • (Skirt - if above knee length, thick tights to be worn)
  • Black or white socks/black tights
  • Black shoes, black boots or plain black trainers – footwear should be practical and suitable for school activities.

 

The following optional items may also be worn:

 

  • Blue & white or navy & white checked gingham summer dress
  • Navy fleece with school logo
  • Navy reversible jacket with school logo
  • One pair of stud earrings (please note that your child should only wear jewellery that they can remove themselves on a PE day since staff cannot remove items of jewellery on your behalf. No jewellery items can be worn during PE lessons)
  • A watch

Primary PE Kit

 

  • White t-shirt 
  • black or navy shorts
  • suitable socks (ideally not the socks they wear during the day)
  • suitable footwear (trainers or pumps)
  • if students wish to wear an extra layer because it is cold and they are outdoors, this must be a plain black or navy sweatshirt or hoodie

Secondary Uniform

 

School blazer

White shirt, tucked in, with top button fastened.

Tie (navy for Years 7-10, black for Year 11)

Black tailored school trousers or shorts (not "skinny" trousers or jeans)

School skirt (standard length)

Plain black flat shoes or boots (no logos)

Black V necked jumper (optional)

Black belt (optional)

Short black socks or tights

No jewellery other than one pair of stud earrings only, no facial or tongue piercings. Watches are permitted. All jewellery must be removed for PE lessons

No obvious make-up and no coloured nail polish. Students who wear coloured nail polish or noticeable make-up will be asked to remove it in school

No extreme hairstyles, including colour

No outdoor clothing inside the building

 

School Equipment - all secondary students are required to bring these items to school every day.

 

  • At least two good quality black or blue pens
  • At least two pencils
  • 30cm ruler (cm/mm only, no inches allowed. This is to comply with external examination regulations)
  • A pencil eraser
  • A pencil sharpener
  • A compass
  • A protractor
  • A scientific calculator (we recommend this one)

Assuming that you complete and sign the school's acceptable use policy for IT use, your child will have full access to an iPad which they will also be able to use at home. This item must be brought into school fully charged every day. 

 

From September 2021 FIA will provide keyboards for students from Y3 - Y11 for use in school only. We strongly recommend that you purchase a keyboard for use at home; this is to encourage the development of touch typing skills in all our students.

 

Secondary Sports Kit

 

Five Islands Academy polo shirt (ideally) or plain white t-shirt

Plain black shorts or skort (plain black or navy joggers may be worn on PE days if it is cold - not leggings)

Sports socks

Appropriate sports footwear

Optional Five Islands Academy mid-layer or hoodie (or plain navy sweatshirt/hoodie)

New PE Kit

Following consultation with staff and students a new PE kit was chosen for primary and secondary children. This can now be ordered online from Trutex Direct; see the ordering details above.

Online Ordering

To order school uniform online please visit Trutex Direct (link below) and register using our school’s LEA code: LEA00920SC. Orders can be placed directly with Trutex. Alternatively, you can order from Trutex Direct by phone, call 01200 421206. Postage and packaging is free on orders over £50 or just £3.50 for orders under that amount. Trutex will normally deliver within 7 working days, although during the busiest time towards the start of the academic year this can be extended.

 

If delivery is delayed and your child is unable to come to school in the full, correct uniform until items arrive, please send in a note or email your child's class teacher/tutor who will inform staff of the situation.
