Canon Perran Gay
Perran is the Chaplain to the Isles of Scilly (the resident Church of England parish priest who serves the islands). Perran is a former secondary school teacher, and also has experience of adult education and clergy training through his work with Exeter University and the Diocese of Truro, having led the Education Department at Truro Cathedral for seven years. Perran has been a governor of four church and community primary schools and a member of the governing body and audit committee of the University of St Mark and St John, Plymouth.
Scott is a co-opted governor and is responsible for Safeguarding.
Robin is a parent governor and is our Mundesley House Governor. She has three children at the academy and lives on Bryher. She is passionate about securing high standards of education for all.
Susie has lived on St Mary's for 30 years and has two children at Five Islands Academy. She is keen to use her expertise in analysing school data and provide curriculum support for primary maths in her role on the local academy committee.
Paula is a retired headteacher and CEO of an academy trust. Paula lives on the mainland but is a regular visitor to Scilly. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience that both supports and challenges the leadership and outcomes of Five Islands Academy.
Jackie is a governor consultant who has worked in special measures schools supporting improvement and academy conversion. Jackie is a National Leader of Governance and works as an independent governor consultant. Jackie also develops and delivers training on behalf of the National Governors Association.
Jackie led on the academy conversion process for the IEB, and remains part of our "family" as Chair of Trustees for the MAT.
