Community Involvement in our Local Heritage Project Week
We are calling out to our Scilly community! Would you like to be a part of our Local Heritage Project Week this November? Every corner of every island in Scilly is rich with stories and a precious heritage to conserve, and at Five Islands Academy this Project Week, we want to be active local citizens, exploring and celebrating our precious natural and historic environment.
We would love to hear from families and friends in the community who would like to share traditional skills, tell Scillonian tales or work with our students on conservation projects, whether ecological, historical or cultural. The theme of our Project Week, between 15th and 19th November, is our islands’ heritage. Our aims are:
- To learn about Scilly’s community traditions, industries, family stories and environmental heritage
- To contribute to preserving our local heritage
- To create a rich multimedia outcome to celebrate our “Scilly Stories”
We already have lots of great ideas, and look forward to hearing from you with more suggestions.
